Oh dear, this was such a close call!

According to The Star, a policeman had a near-death experience when a car rammed into him on Jalan Raja Laut, Kuala Lumpur. The incident reportedly took place at 8.11am today (2 April 2019) when the policeman was directing the busy traffic at the intersection near Dataran Merdeka.

The video of the incident went viral after it was uploaded on social media. In that video, it can be seen that a brown luxury car rammed into the policeman, which sent him flying several metres away. Ouch! After hitting the policeman, the driver was seen getting out of his car to check on the policeman’s condition.

City Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief Asst Comm Zulkefly Yahya shared that the policeman only suffered light injuries on his leg from the accident and he has been taken to Hospital Kuala Lumpur for treatment. Thank goodness!

Zulkefly was quoted as saying,

“The driver, a private university student, 25, has been brought to the traffic police station nearby to assist investigations.”

Adding on, NST wrote that the case will be investigated under Section 42 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless and dangerous driving. You can watch the video of the accident here:

Fortunately, nothing serious happened to the policeman and we hope that the authorities will get to the bottom of this matter. On that note, let’s be a little more careful on the road especially if we are driving and remember to always look out for other cars or pedestrians!
