Most of us deal with heartbreak in our own way, whether it is by pouring our hearts out to our friends, drowning our sorrows in a pint of ice cream or even crying into our pillows until it’s soaked. But this guy from Penang had a slightly different approach when he was dumped by his girlfriend.

According to Kwongwah, on Saturday morning around 10.00am at Lebuhraya Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu, the man, who was sitting in his mother’s car on the way home suddenly decided to commit suicide by jumping out of the moving car. Shocked, his mother immediately stopped the car and rushed out to see her son while asking for help from passersby.

It turns out that her son was still fine, and even managed to jump back into the car in the driver’s seat and drove away. A passing police patrol officer saw the incident and tried to get him to stop the car but he had already stepped on the accelerator and locked the doors.

Luckily, he didn’t manage to go far, because in his emotional state, he drove the car right onto the curb of the road and got stuck there. Thwarted in his attempt (at escaping? committing suicide?), the hysterical man ran out of the car to the grassy area next to the flyover and refused to move.

By now, the gathering crowd had no choice but to follow him to the grass and persuade him to come up, but to no avail.

The man just sat on the ground and started crying while repeating over and over, “I want my mother! I want my mother!”

Eventually, the well-meaning crowd managed to coax the crying man into leaving the bushes and an ambulance came to fetch him to the hospital for treatment.

It looks like a mother’s love is still the most steadfast and true, after all!
