To all the new parents out there, please keep a watchful eye on your kids, for they are curious little beings who want to touch and feel anything and everything, including the skirts of an escalator.

A Twitter posting by 999 Malaysia (@999Malaysia) has gone viral, showing a small child who could be no more than 2 to 3-years-old with his fingers stuck in the bottom skirting of an escalator in a shopping complex in Bintulu, Sarawak.

The images show the child flanked by his mother while someone tries to help pull his bleeding finger out.

Netizens were baffled by the incident, wondering how he could have gotten his finger stuck in the first place. Many took to the comments section to send their well wishes to the child while reminding parents everywhere to pay close attention to their children.

This comment says, “So pitiful. A child as small as that is not at fault. Parents who don’t take care of their kids properly are at fault. Malaysia should have a course for child care-taking. If you fail the course, don’t have kids, don’t get pregnant, don’t adopt.”

The condition of the poor child’s finger is still unknown.

999 Malaysia’s posting has since received 959 retweets.

Please la, pay attention to your children!
