With the 15th General Election (GE) just around the corner, the list of the candidates who will compete for seats in respective states is slowly coming out of the oven. But there’s a particularly familiar name that might be a surprise to some Malaysians.

How could we forget Kuan Chee Hong, fondly known as Uncle Kentang by Malaysians? Just this morning (November 3), a Facebook post on his page revealed that Uncle Kentang will be competing as an independent candidate for the Puchong Parliament in GE15.

For the people in Puchong

In his post, Uncle Kentang stated that the voters in the area should have a representative to always be there to hear the rakyat out.

“I’m not an elite. I’m just a regular person, and you can find me easily to share your problems. Not once every 5 years,” Uncle Kentang said.

He also promised to be everywhere, as long as the rakyat’s problems can be solved.

“Someone you can see every day at the mamak shop, at the office, at home, at the night market, the morning market, at the hospital, on the side of the road when our child is lying down covered in blood after a road accident.”

Uncle Kentang is well-known for his good Samaritan traits, as he has continuously helps and feeds the homeless who can’t afford basic meals, and he has also assured the people that he’ll still help if they have no money for food.

At the end of his post, Uncle Kentang convinced the people to vote for the right candidate who will always be present for the rakyat.

“Vote for the person who you can find easily, not who you find in fancy hotels or golf club.”

He then said,

“We can meet by the road, at the warung for a coffee.”

He had previously contested for the Semenyih State Assembly seat but lost in the by-election 3 years ago.

Fellow Malaysians, especially Puchong folks, given Uncle Kentang’s major contributions to the rakyat and his impressive resume, will you be giving him an opportunity in the upcoming GE?
