Tun Mahathir has proven himself as a wise and worthy leader over and over again, which is why it’s no surprise that even the Indonesian government has the highest respect for him.

According to Astro Awani, Prime Minister Tun Mahathir will be receiving the highest honour from the Indonesian government during his visit to the country on 28 and 29 June.

Upon his arrival, Tun Mahathir will be personally greeted by Indonesian President Joko Widodo and his wife at the airport. They will be accorded a 19-gun salute and inspect a guard of honour at Istana Bogor there.

In fact, Malaysian deputy chief of mission in Jakarta told reporters that Tun Mahathir is actually a greatly respected leader in Indonesia and his arrival is highly anticipated by the local leaders and business community there.

“This visit will provide a platform for the two leaders to further strengthen the bilateral relations and cooperation of both countries. It would also allow Malaysia to highlight the government’s latest policies and its stand on issues of mutual benefit.”

“Furthermore, both leaders would have the opportunity to exchange views on regional and global issues that are of common interest to both countries. Indonesia is one of Malaysia’s close friends and important neighbours,” the minister said

This marks Tun Mahathir’s first visit to the country ever since he became prime minister for the second time. He will be accompanied by his wife, Tun Dr Siti Hasmah and several officials.

Let’s hope their meeting would be fruitful and Tun M could bring home some good news for fellow Malaysians. Kipidap Tun!
