Travellers Can Get Up To 50% Off Ets Tickets From Now Until 30Th December - World Of Buzz

Those of you who plan to balik kampung this holiday, you’re in for a sweet surprise because KTMB (Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad) is offering discounts from 25 to 50 per cent for their ETS (Electronic Train System) train service from 1 November to 31 December 2018, reported Siakap Keli.

According to Chief Executive Officer Mohd Rani Hisham Samsudin, the 50 per cent discount will be given to two routes from Monday until Thursday. The routes are mentioned below:

  • Kuala Lumpur (KL) Sentral – Gemas – KL Sentral 
  • Sungai Petani – Padang Besar – Sungai Petani

Meanwhile, the 25 per cent discount on tickets applies to any ETS train routes on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, within the abovementioned period.

He added that these tickets can be purchased at any KTMB counters and it’s subjected to terms and conditions which are stated on their websiteMohd Rani further explained that the promotion is a token of appreciation for loyal ETS passengers as well as to encourage more people to utilise their service.

He revealed that KTMB may extend the promotion if they get good responses within the months of November and December 2018. Mohd Rani was quoted as saying,

“In 2019, ETS will introduce a better and interesting concept in conjunction with the initiatives to encourage the use of public transportation by the government.”

He said that ETS had 16 services per day for travel routes between KL and Ipoh when it was first introduced on 12 August 2010. Not only that, it had an average of 1,500 passengers who used their services in a day.

Today, it has expanded its services with more routes between the Southern Sector and the Northern Sector. Mohd Rani stated that now, ETS has 36 services with an average of 12,000 passengers per day. Wow!
