A couple of Chinese tourists in Penang demanded a refund from a durian vendor when the fruit was not up to their liking, and they asked for compensation AFTER they had finished a whole durian.

In a viral TikTok video, the tourists, believed to be a mother-and-daughter duo, refused to pay the remaining RM9 for their food on the basis that “the durian tasted bad”.

According to the caption of the video, the tourists and the durian vendor quarrelled for 9 minutes, and one of the ladies told the vendor that she felt uncomfortable after eating the durian. Both ladies demanded a refund, but the vendor refused, which caused the tourists to feel unhappy and “bullied”.

“You have to give me some compensation. It’s so disgusting!”

“This is bullying! I would be stupid to pay you!” one of the women shouted.

The lady in red also accused the durian vendor of being unreasonable and said that she refused to pay the remaining RM9, as she had already paid RM50 earlier. She also accused the vendor of being rude, to which the latter politely told the women that their attitude was unacceptable.

However, when the durian vendor told them to leave if they refused to pay, the duo immediately left.

The vendor was unhappy that the tourists were trying to evade making payment only after they had finished a whole durian.
