How often do you pull out your phone from its charger and just walk away? We know we do it all the time and that isn’t something to be proud of.

So, this is a not so friendly reminder to always turn off your chargers before continuing on with your life. Here’s why.

The Viral Media Johor Facebook page recently shared pictures of a busted phone charger connector that left blaze marks and a hole on what looks like someone’s blanket and bed sheets.

“Be careful, yeah? Turn it off when not using. We never know what can happen”, they said.

Netizens took to the comment section to call out their friends (and themselves) for having the bad habit of leaving the switch on.

“After this remember to turn off the plug, yeah?”

“Always not switching off (the switch) and leaving it just like that after using, right?”

“This is me. Playing (on my phone) while it charges, never turn off (the plug), it’ll be sitting on my pillow next to my ear.”

One netizen shared additional advice, besides just turning off the plug when you’re not using your charger, to avoid things like this from happening.

“Don’t use cheap cables. If the cable is spoilt (broken, bent, the cover coming off) change it. Don’t get used to charging your phone while you sleep or for more than an hour.”

So there you have it folks, stay safe by switching off your plugs and maintaining your phone chargers properly.

It’s always better to be safe than sorry.
