A local man in his 40s died after reportedly being electrocuted while allegedly attempting to steal cables beneath an electrical pole along Jalan Akob, Kampung Kapar, yesterday morning.
According to Kosmo!, the incident happened at around 10am and came to light after members of the public discovered the man’s body and alerted the authorities.

Hand still stuck to the cable
According to Klang Utara District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Ramsay Embol, preliminary investigations at the scene revealed clear signs of criminal activity.
He said that the victim’s hand was still visibly stuck to the electrical cable, pointing to a severe electrocution mid-theft.
“This is based on the position of the victim and his hand, which was still attached to the cable,” ACP Ramsay stated, adding that cable-cutting tools, a padlock, and a motorcycle belonging to the victim were also recovered at the location.

Location details and investigation
Ramsay said subsequent checks by corporate communications and relevant technical entities confirmed that the tragic incident did not take place on national utility provider installations. Instead, the accident occurred at a 33kV Link Box belonging to a third-party private company.
Family members have since identified the deceased as a local resident originating from Kapar. His remains were subsequently transferred to the Hospital Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Puncak Alam for a post-mortem examination.
Police have classified the case as sudden death (SDR) while investigations continue. Authorities have strongly urged anyone with further information regarding the incident to come forward and contact Investigating Officer Sergeant Major Azhar at 012-349 5921 to assist with inquiries.
