Most people tend to travel to Langkawi via airplane but then again, most of us aren’t really conscious of the carbon footprint and litter we leave behind.

Which is why this duo is going to walk 530km, from Kuala Lumpur to Langkawi, in less than 20 days to help raise awareness on our actions towards the environment.

Roman, of the dynamic duo, Roman and Fizah (also known as Discover Evolution), shared with WORLD OF BUZZ his excitement for their upcoming trip!

Walk 1

“Since 2004, I’ve backpacked across over 40 countries and cycled 21,000km across 16 of them. I’ve always loved travelling and adventures and because I mostly travel by bicycle, I’m very concerned about the environment,”

“Walking long distance is something that I always wanted to do, so why not do it while in Malaysia,” he said.

Roman, who is from France, and Fizah, who is Malaysian, plan on departing Kuala Lumpur on 8 June and walking 27km a day until they reach their destination. And, they’re going to need a shopping trolley to do it.

Why a trolley, you ask? Well, they’re not just going to be walking. Yes, we know, that still doesn’t answer your question.

Roman and Fizah also plan on collecting as much litter and rubbish as they can when going about their 27km walk a day and they’ll be calculating and keeping track of how much they collect.

Walk 2

“I think that there is a lot of work to be done about the environment in Malaysia, and to teach people and children that we can do something about it,”

“We hope that by collecting rubbish, people will realise how much trash there is everywhere,” he added.

For now, they are looking for sponsors… and a shopping trolley

So, if you are interested in sponsoring Roman and Fizah’s walk-and-cleanathon, or if you have a shopping trolley to spare, do feel free to reach out to them on their Facebook page!
