Well, some may say that looks are subjective, but not for TC Chandler, a British film critic who founded annual lists of the world’s most beautiful and handsome faces in the 1990s. Self declared to be a “representative of the modern ideal of worldwide beauty”, they boast that these faces are the “Helens of Troy” and “Marilyn Monroes” of our time.
As for the ultimate winners of the most handsome and most beautiful titles, take a look below:
Asia’s Most Handsome Man: Wu Jing
Chinese actor and filmmaker Wu Jing has snagged the enviable role of “Asia’s most handsome” man. He is known for starring roles in Asian blockbusters like “Wolf Warrior 2” and “The Wandering Earth”, two of the highest grossing movies in Chinese history.
The 44-year old heartthrob scored the top spot ahead of K-Pop Star Jeon Jung Kook and Japanese Actor Yuki Furukawa. On a list comprising entries like G-Dragon and Kris Wu, they’re not in bad company.
These are the faces that nabbed second and third place!
Asia’s Most Beautiful Woman: Lisa Manoban
K-pop fans can rejoice as musical sensation BLACKPINK’s Lisa Manoban was chosen as “Asia’s most beautiful” woman. The youngest member of BLACKPINK, she’ll be making history next month in April 2019 as she and her sisters perform at Coachella as the first K-pop girl group to grace that stage.
Interestingly, 22-year-old Lisa isn’t Korean. She’s actually from Thailand!
Meanwhile, close on her tail are Japanese actress Satomi Ishihara and Chinese teen idol Yang Chaoyue at second and third place respectively.
Want to see the complete lists of the 100 most handsome and beautiful Asian faces? Take a look here:
According to their website, the lists are “not about the sexiest body or the most famous celebrity”. Rather, the list attempts to “inform and broaden public opinion instead of reflecting it”.
That being said, it’s a good thing to remember that beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
What do you guys think about the list? Do you guys agree with the results? Let us know your thoughts in comments!
