The news of Lionel Messi transferring is still being talked by many. However, talks between Messi’s father, Jorge, and the executives from Barcelona on Wednesday evening, are still ongoing and no conclusions have been made yet.

According to FourFourTwo, the Argentinian star is open to remaining at Camp Nou after all this summer. His father, who is also his agent has met with club president Josep Bartomeu to discuss the terms of a new two-year contract.

Barcelona has made it clear that they will not allow losing their star player. Lionel Messi’s initial plan was to leave on a free transfer, as per a clause in his contract which allows him to do so each summer. Though, Barcelona claims that that expired at the beginning of June.

Initially, Jorge claimed that “it would be difficult” for his son to ever represent the club again. On the contrary, he flew into Barcelona earlier this week with a considerably softer stance as club officials fight to keep the Argentinian star.

Lionel Messi is Barcelona’s record goalscorer. The player holds a record of 634 strikes in 731 appearances. He has won 10 league titles, four Champions Leagues, six Spanish Cups and a record six Ballon d’Or in his 15 years as a professional. He is undeniably considered the greatest player in the history of the sport.
