Update: The person who recorded the video has since apologized for the incident and have compensated for the loss that occurred. He revealed that this incident took place in 2020 during the end of SPM examinations and did not expect his video to go viral again after he recently re-uploaded it.

Back then, we will immediately head to McDonald’s or any other eateries to celebrate the end of our examination papers, especially SPM which marked the last examinations we would ever have in school.

However, things have changed now, at least for some students. Recently, a video capturing a bunch of students playing with the fire extinguisher inside the school compound has gone viral.

The video was originally uploaded onto TikTok by a user but has since been deleted. It didn’t take long for the video to resurface online, where a few students can be seen toying around with the safety equipment in the school canteen.

It is revealed that they were actually “celebrating” the end of their SPM exams. The location and the name of the school, however, were not disclosed. While the fumes from the fire extinguishers are generally non-toxic, inhaling the mono ammonium phosphate and sodium bicarbonate can cause irritations such as:

  • Mild irritations to the nose, lung and throat
  • Shortness of breath
  • Coughing
  • Dizziness and headache

The video, which you can watch below, has been re-circulated by a Facebook page, Warga Taman Keramat and has sparked fury among the netizens who think that fire extinguishers are not meant to be played with.

They should enrol themselves into the military, so they’ll know what’s the actual usage of the fire extinguishers are.”

Such a disgrace to the school to have such kind of students.”

The end of high school is definitely one of the bittersweet highlights in our lives, but there’s always a better alternative to celebrate without creating trouble for others.
