Restaurants & Businesses At Jonker Street Officially Close Down Leaving Many M’sians Heartbroken
After many reports of businesses around Kuala Lumpur and Selangor officially closing down, we’re sad to see our beloved shops at Jonker Street being added to the list.
This time around, the Malaysia Business For Sale Facebook page took to their profile to showcase pictures of restaurants and other small businesses at Jonker Street officially closing their business as owners put up signs to indicate that the lots are now for sale or rent.
In the caption of the post, Malaysia Business For Sale wrote:
“Let’s see today what business[es] for sale are available at Jonker Street.”
It comes with no surprise that many businesses are tremendously affected by the ongoing pandemic, Movement Control Order (MCO) and lockdowns.
With the current lockdown on a constant extension due to the ever-rising daily Covid-19 cases, these businesses are not able to sustain themselves any longer. It will take a lot for them to resume operations again as many have gone on too many months without an income.
Netizens left feeling devastated
Since the post went viral, netizens took to the comment section to express their disappointment in seeing their favourite local shops closing down for good.
Some Malaysians were devastated as they have had many good memories there while some were sad that they never got the chance to try out these stores.
During these difficult and unprecedented times, let’s make it a point to support our small local business owners and their employees by purchasing food and other essential items from them before more businesses decide to shut down for good.
