Michelle Yeoh is apparently not the only Malaysian-born performer who is making a name globally. Just recently, a Malaysian model and actress, Lin Min Chen was nominated for the Best Supporting Actress Award at the 41st Hong Kong Film Awards.

Min Chen was nominated for her role as Ah Meow in the 2022 film, Table for Six.

It was supposed to be a CNY movie, with its initial release date on 1 February during the first day of CNY last year, but it was eventually postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The film was later released in September last year.

In Table for Six, Min Chen’s Ah Meow is a sexy web idol who returns unexpectedly to Steve’s life, played by Dayo Wong, which makes things awkward during the preparation of CNY eve’s dinner.

Table for Six is a melodramatic comedy that centres around 3 brothers who stay in the house that they inherited from their parents. The film stars Dayo Wong, Louis Cheung, and Charm Man Chang play the 3 brothers. You can find the official synopsis of the film below, as described by GSC Cinemas.

“To big brother Dai (Dayo Wong), nothing is more satisfying than dining with his two younger half-siblings (Louis Cheung Kai Chung and Peter Chan Charm Man). But when his old flame (Stephy Tang) shows up as his brother’s girlfriend, kitchen nightmare strikes and it’s up to his part-time girlfriend (Lim Min-chen) to simmer down the situation.”

Table for Six was released in Malaysian cinemas on September 15, 2022, and you can watch the trailer here if you’re not caught up with the movie. The award ceremony will be held on April 16, 2023, at the Hong Kong Cultural Center.
