Suspects believed to be intoxicated

According to Basri, the altercation began when the victim, who was dining at the restaurant, glanced at the suspects.

“The suspects, who were believed to be intoxicated, took offence at being looked at and proceeded to attack the victim,” he was quoted as saying by Sinar Harian on 11 May.

He added that the suspects have been arrested and remanded until Thursday (14 May) to assist with the investigation.

Victim receives three stitches for head wound

Earlier, CCTV recording of the incident went viral on social media, showing three individuals attacking a man at the restaurant and leaving him injured.

The circulated footage was also shared by Kepong Member of Parliament (MP) Lim Lip Eng, who stated the incident occurred at 2:12 AM.

According to Lim, the victim suffered head injuries and required three stitches. In the footage, the suspects are seen punching the victim in the face before kicking him and assaulting him with a plastic chair.

“The dispute is believed to have happened after the victim allegedly glared at the group for talking loudly; they didn’t know each other,” Lim said in the post.

The Kepong MP added that a police report was lodged the following morning, after which the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) apprehended all suspects that same day.
