Recently, it was reported that the Setia Alam mall shooter, a man in his 30s, was shot dead by police officers in a shootout in Pulau Ketam, South Klang, on Tuesday (February 18).

Now, the police are sharing further details about the man’s life of crime

According to a report by Harian Metro, the man, known as ‘Ah Boy’, apparently enjoyed taking syabu before committing crimes. The Selangor Police Chief, Datuk Hussein Omar Khan, shared that the man gained the courage to commit various crimes by taking the drug.

“The results of the investigation found that the suspect was involved in drug distribution and usage. So, the deep impact of this drug use also caused him to behave in this way,”

“Every time he wanted to commit a crime, the suspect would take drugs. Blood tests conducted on his body found that he was positive for drugs,” he explained.

He used to be involved in group robberies

He further shared that the suspect had previously been involved in group robberies but started operating alone for the past year or so, possibly because he didn’t get along with the crime group.

“For the past year or two, the suspect has been committing muggings and robberies for his own needs. When he ran out (of proceeds from his robberies), he would commit more crimes. That has been his ‘habit’ for the past year or two,”

“I would like to emphasise that his ‘trigger happy’ behaviour was done alone with no accomplices or gang members to worry about. He acted alone and as I stated, he has 11 criminal records and until he was shot dead, he committed 15 crimes,”

“He has been in prison twice and the last time was in 2019,” he added.

Speaking of ‘trigger happy’, Ah Boy had apparently used 2 semi-automatic pistols to commit his criminal activities, a Sig Sauer and a Retay.

Investigations are still underway to identify where he obtained the guns, and the police believe they were purchased from a certain group in our country.
