Last week, many Malaysians were grief-stricken over the news of six brave firefighters who lost their lives during a rescue mission in Puchong. As a token of respect to them, many parties (including the state government) have since extended monetary help to the families of the firefighters.

Much more recently, NST reported that the production team of ‘Paskal The Movie’ has also donated RM30,000 to the families of the Water Rescue Unit (PPDA) of the Fire and Rescue Department (JPBM).

FYI, Paskal The Movie is a Malaysian movie that narrates the story of an elite navy (Paskal) team in the Tentera Laut DiRaja Malaysia.

The donation was handed over by group managing director of Multimedia Entertainment Sdn Bhd Datuk Steven Lim to JBPM director Azmi Osman in a ceremony at the Selangor JBPM headquarters in Shah Alam.

According to the report, the director (Adrian Teh) and actors (Hairul Azreen, Theeban G, Jasmine Suraya Chin and Ammar Alfian) were also present during the ceremony.

After handing out the donation, Lim said in a speech that he hopes the donation will be helpful to the firemen’s family as it may ease their burden that might ensue following the passing of their family members.

He said in his speech,

“The donation is our way of showing our appreciation for these unsung heroes who lost their lives in the line of duty.”

In the meantime, Malaysian Climbers Club and the Mountain Rescuers Association have donated RM2,000 to the families of the firefighters. Members of both clubs were also present in the event to present the donation.

Following that, Azmi extended his gratitude for the overwhelming support from Malaysians over the tragedy and he said that this support will encourage the firefighters, especially the Water Rescue Unit (PPDA), when they are pursuing their duties.

It’s great that the parties above decided to donate a considerable amount of money to the firefighters’ families, so kudos to them. Hopefully, the money will be of good use to the families as they brave through this difficult time in their lives.
