If you can eat one thing in the world for the rest of your life, it will definitely be chap fan (mixed rice) as it is economical and the dishes change every day.

Sometimes, eating chap fan is not cheap when you take multiple dishes, especially if they contain meat. A Singaporean food page on Facebook named She Loves Mukbang, provided a few useful tips to order chap fan that will get you a bang for your buck!

Remember, these are just suggestions and they may or may not work on your local chap fan aunty or uncle.

Here are the tips:

  1. Order the meat dishes first so that the person will not think that you’re a cheapskate and will give you more.
  2. Point at a dish as many times or as long as possible and they will subconsciously give you more.
  3. Do not rush the person by pointing at another dish when they’re scooping the current one. This will make them take a smaller portion in order to move on to the next dish.
  4. Instead of saying “add rice” say “a bit more rice”. They may not charge you for that.

After reading the tips, it seems like this is only applicable to the stores that will scoop the dishes for you. She Loves Mukbang has also prepared a useful infographic for you to share with your friends and family!
