The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) recently shared that it would not compromise on any offences pertaining to running red lights on the road.

This is after a viral video circulating on social media showing two drivers dangerously squeezing through openings between two vehicles and running a red light at a junction.

Taking to its official Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department page, PDRM asserted that there will be no compromises for selfish road users who ignore the safety of themselves and others by running red lights.

The Department said,

“These actions endanger not only yourself but other road users. Many road accidents have been recorded due to carelessness and selfishness.”

The statement further elaborated that each traffic law was made for the good of all and traffic lights were not created to make lives worse for road users, but to maintain their safety.

Circling back to the viral video, it was recorded on Saturday (24 June) at around 6.27 pm based on the dashcam footage’s timestamp.

In the video, a while Perodua Kancil can be seen squeezing in between two cars and casually running the red light at the junction. Moments later, a grey Perodua Kelisa ran the same red light by squeezing through the left using the emergency lane.
