Investigators announced, as reported by NST, that they are now focusing on black market cannabis vape and other products which contain vitamin E oil.

A pulmonologist in North Carolina, Daniel Fox, explained that the pulmonary illness could occur when oils or lipid substances enter the lungs such as Vitamin E acetate. In vapour form, it tends to coat the lungs and wreak havoc on the delicate respiratory organs.

However, as of now, federal officials have said that from the samples that were examined, they could not find a single common substance.

The acting deputy director for non-infectious diseases at the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) explained that at the moment, there are more than 450 cases of pulmonary illness related to vaping, which is double the amount reported previously. The CDC now warns against vaping until the cause of the disease can be identified and eradicated.

Patients who were hospitalised have reported having difficulty in breathing and suffered from chest pains. As of now, the outbreak is only happening in the United States, even though vaping is very popular globally, especially in Malaysia.

For those who vape, please pay attention to the e-liquid that is used in your vape pen. The presence of Vitamin E could be fatal. So please ensure you get your supply for legit sources.
