Vehicles entering and exiting toll plazas without paying are common problems faced by expressway operators in our country. So much so that some toll booths even display certain vehicle’s plate numbers to name and shame them.

With that in mind, this particular Malaysian toll plaza seems to have the solution to the problem, which is to continuously open and close toll barriers at rapid speed to deter road users from even attempting to tailgate the vehicle in front of them and not paying for the toll.

As shared by Lobak Merah, a viral video of the toll plaza showed the toll barrier opening and closing rapidly, causing road users to hesitate to pass through after paying the toll. The exact location of the toll plaza or when the video was recorded was undisclosed.

In the video, a Perodua MyVi can be seen second-guessing before speeding through the barrier after tapping the Touch ‘n Go card at the payment terminal.

In fact, just as the MyVi passed through the barrier, it instantly continued to open and close rapidly.

Lobak Merah also shared several comments from Malaysians on the viral video, with many expressing amusement.

One commenter said that such a measure would definitely deter anyone from trying to exit the toll plaza without paying.

Meanwhile, another commenter asked whether one can claim damages should the barrier malfunction and hit their vehicle.
