According to Malaysian law, underaged teenagers aren’t allowed to consume and or purchase alcohol from any establishments. The legal age for drinking has been raised from 18 to 21 in 2017.

However, recently, a series of screenshots and videos were shared online about how a few teenagers from Johor had forced a cat to drink alcohol.

In their now deleted Instagram story, they were illegally drinking and even forced a stray cat to consume alcohol along with them.

The video showed a girl holding the cat down while a guy held the cat’s head and forced the cat to drink whatever was in his wine glass.

The person filming the video said, “Hey, don’t do that”, and then posted the story, tagging the 2 friends of his who were in the video.

Upon investigation from fellow netizens, it appeared that this incident happened at a famous bar in Mount Austin and both of the culprits were under 15-years-old. Netizens have also found their Instagram account and pictures, and shared them online.

The said bar has mentioned that the cat is well and that they have sent it away from the premises.

Cats cannot consume alcohol

Many netizens were angry with the video and the actions of the culprits.

Cats cannot consumer alcohol as their liver is unable to break down the enzymes. If they consume alcohol, they will have symptoms of being poisoned,” a user explained.

“Ask him to face the consequences.”

“Ask him to come and face the consequences, even though it’s just a cat, he should still face some form of punishment,” said another.

Meanwhile, a user pinned the blame on the parents and said, “15 -years-old and they’re allowed to go to a pub, seems like the parents are doing a ‘good job’. Them being able to abuse animals like that is a sign that the parents did not teach them well.”

“I checked their profile out and they seem to have a lot of animals surrounding them. If they really loved animals, they wouldn’t have done that,” said a netizen.

As of now, no police reports have been made against the teenagers and the issue has been resolved after the pub has sent the cat away.

This is a general reminder to treat animals with respect and not mistreat them.
