Ok! If I’m being honest, additional mathematics (or more famously known as Add Maths) wasn’t my strongest subject in school. Not only that but I think I speak for the majority when I say that Add Maths isn’t the most favourite subject for most students. Am I right or am I right?

However, one teacher has taken it upon himself to make one of the most hated subjects in Malaysia into one loved by his students. Malay Mail shared that Fathi Hussein who is a young Add Maths teacher has gone viral all over the internet because of his fun and interesting take on the tough subject.

Famously known for his speed talking method and solving difficult questions in a jiffy, Fathi also appears on Astro Tutor TV, which is actually an educational channel for Malaysian students. You can check out a video of Fathi teaching below:

Besides that, Fathi – who often dons a batik shirt – often uploads videos of himself teaching “exam students” (SPM and PT3 students) at Maths Clinic. It’s not a place where people with chronic maths problem go for medication but it is, in fact, a chain of tuition centres.

Amongst the topics that the young teacher will normally take on are mentioned below:
  • Probability distribution
  • Inverse functions
  • Bearings
  • Gradients
  • Graphs

I’m having PTSD flashbacks by just typing out the above-mentioned topics.

This because students from all over Malaysia have been expressing their support for Fathi as they have begun to love Add Maths after watch his video. On top of that, one person felt that they would have done better in Add Maths if they had a teacher like Fathi. The person was quoted by Malay Mail as saying,

“This looks so fun, if only there were teachers like this in school during my time, I’d surely get an A but for my SPM I only managed to scrape through.”

Well, ain’t that the truth!

On that note, we wish Fathi all the best with his future and hopefully, he will inspire more people to like Maths. What do you think of Cikgu Fathi? Let us know in the comments below!
