From the bride tossing her bouquet to wearing something old, new, borrowed and blue, wedding customs are still popular today that even the more non-traditional couples would happily take part.

From the sweet to the perplexed, here is an example of a wedding custom that requires you to put some muscle into it.

Taking place in Sg. Manik, Perak, one netizen shared her experience in a bride and groom carrying ceremony, which is a nearly forgotten custom amongst the Banjar Malays.

In the video, Hidayati Zakaria was carried on the shoulders of her family members to meet her groom, who was also carried to the ceremony.

“I was scared at how high I was carried.”

“This is something only people from Perak can relate to.”

Commenting on the video, netizens who were of Banjar descent lamented on how not many are willing to carry on the tradition anymore.

“I am from Sabak Bernam, and sadly this is no longer a custom in my village.”

“I would think that those who have siblings can do it.”

Let’s hope we see more of content sharing like this in the future.
