There are many things that can cause an employee to become demotivated, and among them is the salaries of their co-workers.

One Malaysian woman recently discovered that the new employee she has to train at her company is earning more than her.

Taking to the @meinmokhtar X page, the 27-year-old woman anonymously shared how she immediately felt demotivated the moment she found out that the new employee she is training is earning RM900 more than her!

She wrote, “I have been working at my current company for over a year, with a basic salary of RM2,500 excluding allowance. I have to train the newbie but I just found out that her basic is RM3,400. I lost my motivation to work and perform.”

Many sympathised with the woman and urged her to either fight for a higher salary or resign and look for better opportunities.

Salary 1

“Before giving up, fight for yourself first. Voice out this issue to your boss. Just voice it out if you are really qualified for a salary increment. Many can negotiate. After you get your answer, then you should decide if you want to continue or find a new job.”

Salary 2

“You can demand for more or just (leave). It is unfair if a junior has a higher salary than a senior with experience.”

Salary 3

“With the experience that you have, just jump to another company. Ask for a higher salary.”

Salary 4

We truly feel for her and hope that she will make a decision based on whatever is best for her.

What do you think the woman should do in this situation? Do feel free to share your thoughts in the comment section.
