A woman has touched many netizens after sharing a heartfelt tribute to her neighbour, who passed away two weeks ago.

In a Threads post, Leen (@nrshzlynrsln) said she and her family left the gate to their home open in case their late neighbour’s family needed any help during the funeral.

Recalling one of the family’s kindest gestures, Leen expressed her gratitude for everything they had done for her and her family over the years, despite being of different faiths.

“Previously, her son would take care of his mother every day. Before dawn, he would even call to wake us up for Fajr prayer. It all started after one day when I accidentally overslept and only woke up at 8am. Ever since then, he would call my husband every morning to make sure we were awake,” she wrote.

Leen added that the elderly woman had been unwell for quite some time and shared how the house would now feel much quieter as no one would be living there anymore.

“Auntie is no longer in pain. She had been ill for a long time. It’ll be so quiet here after this. There won’t be anyone living in that house anymore,” she wrote.

“Good things should be shared”

Speaking to WORLD OF BUZZ, Leen shared that just yesterday (27 July), the late woman’s family came over to her home with gifts as a token of appreciation.

“The late woman’s daughter-in-law even came over with a gift to thank us. They truly appreciated us as their neighbours,” she added.

Reflecting on the experience, Leen reminded Malaysians to always show kindness and look out for one another, regardless of race or background.

“Since we live as neighbours, we should always care for one another and be aware of each other’s situation. Sometimes, our neighbours may be elderly and living alone. Before our own family members arrive, it is often our neighbours who are the ones around us. Good things should be shared. One Malaysia, right?” she said.
