Paying for your parking by using applications is so much easier than buying the coupons.

However, on 5 May, a woman in Kuantan paid for her parking using the parking app PahangGo but was shocked to see that later on, she received a saman!

According to Sin Chew Daily, the woman paid for the parking at 9am and saw that the credit was deducted and the countdown had started.

Kuantan Pahang Go Parking Saman 2

At about 10am, she went back to her car and found a saman stating that she did not display her parking coupon. It was an RM30 saman which will be increased to RM300 if not paid within 3o days.

Feeling very confused, she went to the local government administration building where they told her that the problem had nothing to do with them and she needed to go to PahangGo’s office in Putra Square to complain.

“I even showed him that at that time, my parking timer was still running and valid but he said that the system is not in sync with the local administration office.”

After hearing that, she went to Putra Square but was unable to find the office as it had been relocated. She tried calling their office number as well but no one picked up the phone. Feeling exasperated, she turned to Sin Chew Daily to tell her story.

After the story had been published, the legal department of the Kuantan City Council reached out and said that the woman can go to their office to settle this issue.

PahangGo has also responded that the woman’s parking was valid when the saman was issued, so, the saman should be cancelled.

Well, this incident certainly shows the disconnect between the application and the local government. Since most states are switching to using applications, we certainly hope that everything will be improved and we wouldn’t need to go through what this woman did.
