Relationships are supposed to be a two way street, unless previously arranged otherwise.

If not, if a boyfriend treats his girlfriend like a queen, she should treat him like a king right back, and vice versa.

One Malaysian man took to the SecretsMy Twitter page to share how it feels unfair that he spends money on his girlfriend, but she never spends money on him back, pushing him towards wanting to break up with her.

He wrote, “Is it normal to have a girlfriend who never spends anything in the relationship?”

“I am a 29-year-old male, she is a 27-year-old female. We go out for dates every weekend and I cover for everything, from picking her up (even if it’s on the other side of the destination, she lives in TPG and I’m in Subang), food, cinema (movies) and everything from A to Z.”

Considering the strain on his finances, he would attempt to tell his girlfriend that they couldn’t go out every weekend, but she would allegedly pout and share her disappointment that he isn’t spending time with her at least once a week.

“I understand the responsibilities of a man, but before a relationship (marriage), do I really have to take care of everything?”

Things became worse for him when it came time for both of their birthdays.

“For her birthday, I spend almost RM1,000 for everything including a designer purse. And for my birthday, I only got wishes. We were arguing at that time, but even after we were okay, there was nothing,”

“Sometimes I really want to end this relationship because of her calculative attitude, but I really don’t know how to end it without making it look like it’s her fault for being so calculative with me. I had talks with her many times about this, but I don’t see any changes,” he explained.

He added that he loves spoiling his girlfriend but feels like he is the only one putting in effort as she doesn’t spoil him back in return.

“Is it true that if women love their men, they don’t mind spending on them? Or should she never settle for less?”

We definitely believe that it takes 2 to tango, and that spoiling your partner should go both ways.

What do you think about his predicament? Do feel free to share your thoughts in the comment section.
