Couples often have disagreements and arguments, especially as their relationship develops. However, it’s important to differentiate between healthy conflict resolution and harmful fighting.

Utusan Malaysia reported that the police have initiated an investigation under Section 307 of the Penal Code, related to attempted murder, following an incident where a woman fell from the Penang Bridge after she was pushed by her male partner.

The Chief of Police in Penang, Datuk Khaw Kok Chin, mentioned that initial investigations indicate the male involved is a senior police officer serving outside the Penang contingent. The female companion works at a factory in Penang and resides in the area.

He clarified that both of them are safe, and it is believed that an argument occurred before they stopped at the scene.

“Based on initial investigations, the female victim alleges that she was pushed by the man, leading to both of them falling,” he stated during a press conference at the Northeast District Police Headquarters (IPD) today.

Datuk Khaw Kok Chin mentioned that the police have initiated investigations under Section 307 of the Penal Code, addressing the offense of attempted murder. The ongoing inquiry involves obtaining statements from additional witnesses.

“We’ll confirm details with other witnesses regarding the alleged argument and rejection. Following that, a decision on whether to remand the male victim will be made,” he stated.

Videos of the incident has now become widely shared on social media, depicting numerous onlookers gathering at the Penang Bridge at the time of the incident.

Meanwhile, when questioned about the nature of the relationship between the two individuals, Datuk Khaw Kok Chin noted that this aspect is still being investigated further.
