According to the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) Secretary-General Dato’ Lokman Hakim Ali, in his letter to EUROCHAM Malaysia, the Ministry of Health is currently mulling over a possibility of a complete shutdown of the economy.

According to the letter, which was shared on Twitter“The Ministry of Health (MOH) has made a clear stand on the matter of a complete shutdown of the economy.”

“With 99 Covid-19 clusters related to manufacturing out of more than 300 throughout the country, MOH believes that manufacturing is the main source of infections.”

“Should the infection rate not decrease, the Malaysian government will announce a shutdown/strict lockdown with immediate effect after 4 February 2021.”
