Just a few months ago, it was uncovered in a report that some Malaysian teenagers have admitted they started watching porn when they were eight years old! On top of that, at least 19% of children below the age of 1o have watched porn in one way or another.
The amount of these teenagers to watching porn will instil a warped and unrealistic relationship with sex at a very young age. Such a worrying fact!

According to the statistics released by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), porn sites are at the top of the list of websites blocked from January to October 2018. Within those ten months, MCMC has blocked 2,684 porn sites and 1,347 scam sites. Banyaknya!Ā

The Deputy Minister of Communications and Multimedia, Eddin Syazlee stated, as quoted by Harian Metro,
“From 2015 to October 2018, 4,318 porn sites have been blocked and from that, 399 sites were distributing child pornography.”Ā

He elaborated that legal action can also be takenĀ under Section 211 and 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 (CMA 1998) against those who misuse the Internet. He said,
“This includes includes storing and distributing contents that are obscene, false, threatening or offensive.“
The reality is grim as day by day, there will always be new porn sites launched and since our kids these days have so much access to the net, it will be a challenge for everyone to curb this problem.
Every day, we are served with worrying news about sexual crimes happening around us and some are even committed by minors. It doesn’t help that information about sex come in the form of explicit videos that aren’t the least bit healthy or informative.
However, there is always hope as nothing is impossible if we as a community work together to control and stop the problem at its source.
At the end of the day, porn is not the only culprit. Families need to have open and positive conversations about sex with their children and teens. If not, porn sites are going to be their main teacher!
