In a report by Harian Metro, a man from Terengganu had claimed he had gotten robbed and filed a police report to avoid giving allowances to his wife as he had run out of money.

The 29-year-old from Kampung Pasir Gajah, Kemaman, had made the report at the Pasir Gajah Police Station.

Kemaman District Police Chief, Superintendent Hanyan Ramlan, said the suspect claimed to have been robbed by 2 men riding a motorcycle on Jalan Ibok-Paman, at 4:20pm.

He said the suspect also claimed to have been stabbed in the neck by 2 men in black jackets and wearing full-face helmets.

“He further claimed that he could not recognise the registration number of the motorcycle they were riding, but lost RM1,500 in cash, a chain and a gold pendant worth RM700.”

After further questioning, the suspect finally admitted that the robbery did not happen and made a false report because his salary had already been spent, and he could not give his wife spending money.

“The man also admitted that the gold chain allegedly stolen had actually been leased to a gold shop and had not yet been redeemed,” he said.

According to him, further investigation found that the suspect had 3 previous drug-related records, and he was detained for further investigation.
