When it comes to election season, it’s a little hard to differentiate between candidates who actually want to help the community and candidates who make promises just for the sake of getting votes.

But every once in a while, certain aspects of this tend to come to light.

State assemblyman for Machang Bubuk (Penang), Lee Khai Loon took to his official Facebook page to showcase a comparison between him and Bukit Mertajam PH candidate Steven Sim Chee Keong, against Bukit Mertajam BN candidate Tan Yang Pang.

Ph Vs Bn 1 1

He wrote, “A YB’s responsibilities are big, this is the difference between ‘those who serve’ and ‘those who pretend'”.

Lee, alongside Sim, had visited a family at their house after it was destroyed due to an undisclosed tragedy. But before them, BN candidate Tan Yang Pang had also checked in with the family.

The state assemblyman shared that Tan allegedly merely took pictures without offering assistance.

“Earlier I heard that BN candidate Tan Yang Pang came here to that a look from outside and left. Thank you to BN for coming to visit. Continue your efforts to campaign at night markets,” he said.

Pppppppp

According to the Lee, he and PH candidate Sim Chee Keong, on the other hand, helped put a roof over the family’s head while their house was being repaired.

“Brother Steven Sim and I were also at the scene after Tan Yang Pang’s visit, but we have settled temporary accommodation in a hotel for 3 nights and 4 days for the victim’s family and we will help them find a safe place to live while waiting for their house to be repaired (for 3 months), in the Desa Wawasan Flat provided by the Penang state government,”

“But it’s okay, just keep going.”

Picking the right candidate during an election can really make or break a community. We genuinely hope that the general public make good choices this upcoming GE15.

Stay tuned for more updates.
