Flash floods in the 2 east coast states of Peninsular Malaysia namely Kelantan and Terengganu have left people displaced. Many have been stranded, losing their belongings to the treacherous floodwater as they wait to be rescued.

Although there were incidents of people who fled when the situation got worse, a heartwarming video has been circulating online showcasing a couple of men on a boat rescuing a distressed cow & calf from the flood.

Although it is unclear if they stumbled upon the hoofed mammal or it belonged to them, this story is based on the caption that states “He has rescued a cow that’s a flood victim“.

The abang hero is seen squatting on a boat while bringing the cow to dry land by gripping its nose firmly and pulling it through the high flood level. A calf can also be seen in the boat. Both cow and calf seem calm. They could be scared and we are so glad for this rescue mission.

While abang hero pulls the cow, another man safely navigates the boat to dry land.

The guy navigating the boat can be heard saying:

“The world notices us when we’re at ease. When we’re struggling like this, nobody notices. It’s so hard to get any financial aid during these times that our stomachs and back ache terribly.”

Watch the heroic action here:

Though we aren’t sure of the outcome, we hope the heroes and the cow along with its young are safe and dry. Our prayers go to the victims who are fighting furiously through this recent tragedy.

The spirit of #KitaJagaKita doesn’t only apply to humans. Malaysians have once again illustrated what the motto truly means. Man or beast, as long as there is life in it, it is worth saving.
