Other than wearing face masks, practising social distancing and taking care of our personal hygiene at all times, the Covid-19 self-test is apparently another important SOP for us to follow, according to Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin.

In a statement, the Ministry of Health (KKM) urges the public to immediately perform the Covid-19 detection test if there are symptoms shown. The self-test kits can be purchased at licensed community pharmacies and even online platforms.

“If you are tested positive, the first action to take is to isolate yourself to prevent the spread of infection,” said the ministry. Responding to this statement, Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin reinforces the significance of Covid-19 self-testing, adding that it is the most crucial approach for us to ‘live together with Covid-19’.

“There are only 3 per cent more of the fully vaccinated adult population needed before state borders open. Things will get worse if we are complacent,” he said in a Twitter posting.

As of 2 October 2021, 87.2 per cent of Malaysia’s adult population have been fully vaccinated. Although there is a slight decrease of daily Covid-19 cases recorded compared to the previous month, we should not be complacent yet and should follow the set SOPs all the time.
