In the latest update by the Prime Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin posted a statement on his Facebook page after his meeting with the National Security Council. The spread of Covid-19 in the community is still high especially with the appearance of newer, more aggressive strains. This means that it will take longer to flatten the infection curve.

Taking these into account, the government has agreed to tighten the implementation of the MCO 3.0 that’s currently in effect by adding more restrictions on the economic and social sectors.

The session also took into account the state governments and the respective Covid-19 situations in each state, as well as their opinions in battling the Covid-19 pandemic. Details regarding these added restrictions will be announced in the Defence Minister’s press conference due tomorrow (22 May).
