Former Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail nearly failed to submit her nomination for the 15th General Election (GE15) earlier today after losing her identity card (IC) at the nomination centre at Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur Training Institute (IDB). The incumbent Pandan Member of Parliament (MP) is contesting in Bandar Tun Razak this time around and lost her IC during the procession to the nomination centre today.

As reported by Bernama, she noticed that her IC was missing prior to submitting her nomination form for contesting at P124 Bandar Tun Razak which created an anxious moment among supporters at the nomination centre. A frantic search then ensued, with over 200 PKR supporters going around to find the missing IC.

Thankfully, Wan Azizah’s IC was recovered by a supporter and she successfully submitted her nomination form at IDB before the deadline. The former Deputy Prime Minister shared,

“I slipped my IC in the EC pass but it fell out during the procession, fortunately, it was recovered. What an agonising moment!”

Wan Azizah will be contesting to become the new Bandar Tun Razak MP in GE15 against its incumbent Datuk Kamarudin Jaffar (Perikatan Nasional) and Bandar Tun Razak MCA chief Datuk Chew Yin Keen (Barisan Nasional). The constituency has 119,185 registered voters in this election and the Election Commission (EC) set 19 November as polling day and 15 November for early voting.
