Something we all can learn from!

Since the Covid-19 pandemic began, Taiwan’s cases have been under control, with 1,290 total cases reported among a population of about 24 million. However, a recent increase in domestic infections has raised the country’s coronavirus alert level. There are 180 new domestic infections in Taiwan, reported by Reuters.

As the Covid-19 infection spreads, the Taiwan government has also ordered to close bars, nightclubs, saunas and karaoke halls. So far, Taiwan has never gone into a full lockdown.

On 15 May 2021, Facebook user Tsungnan Yuan shared a series of photos captioned “Taipei people automatically practised lockdown”. The photos show empty streets in Taipei, as well as the vacant train stations and shop lots.

Although the Taiwan government has yet to announced a lockdown in the country, the citizens practised “self-lockdown” in order to curb the spread of the Covid-19 virus. Many praised the Taiwanese for being disciplined and for their self-awareness in stopping the virus transmission.

As of yesterday (15 May 2021), Malaysia recorded a total of 4,140 new Covid-19 cases and 44 new deaths. As more people are being infected by the virus, the hospitals are also facing a huge challenge in providing adequate facilities and capacity for the patients.

According to the Ministry of Health, PKRC MAEPS 2.0 is now facing a shortage of beds and is planning to add 1,000 more beds to support the health system in Klang Valley.

Therefore, please always comply with the government SOPs and stay home. Fighting against the pandemic should be our priority now.
