Elderly Man Drowns After Paramotor Carrying Him & Friend Crashes Into Ocean in Kelantan

The enjoyment of 2 elderly citizens paramotoring at Pantai Irama, Bachok, Kelantan, quickly turned into a tragedy when one of them was found to be deceased due to drowning after crashing into the ocean.

Videos of the incident has since gone viral on social media.

According to a report by Berita Harian, this incident took place on Friday (June 23) at 6:50pm, when the victims who are also residents of the area, had crashed into the sea, causing the 60-year-old victim to lose his life, while his 77-year-old friend and operator of the paraglider, survived.

A Bachok District Civil Defense Force (APM) officer, Lieutenant (PA) Mohd Khairi Mat Hussin shared that the 2 elderly people were believed to have fallen into the ocean and drowned at a distance of about 120 meters from the APM tower on the beach.

“Before the incident, the (APM) members who were at the tower noticed that their paramotoring gear seemed to be having problems before they both crash landed into the sea.”

“6 of our members proceeded to rush and managed to save 1 victim, however another drowned and was found at a depth of about 3 meters,” he said.

The victim’s body has since been handed over to the police for further action.
