Durian lovers, we’ve got some news for you that will definitely make your day especially if you’re craving for some of that yummy fruit!

According to The Star, durians are being sold at a very cheap price because of the prolonged durian season. In addition, the sales of durians declined during the Ramadan month in May which has also contributed to the increase in supply. Due to this abundant supply, this has led to the drop in prices. Yass!

A stall in Penang along the Macalister Road was reportedly seen selling the King of Fruits in airtight containers for only RM10 each.

Named Durian Balik Pulau, this shop sells more than 10 types of durian including local fruits such as jackfruit, rambutan, mangosteen and mango. Lim Beng Choo, the owner of Durian Balik Pulau, has been selling durians for RM10 ever since their sales declined during Ramadan.

She was quoted as saying,

“Now, there is [an] abundant supply, so we have retained the price. The price is likely to drop a bit more since supply is increasing and many traders are also selling it.”

Lim also said that the extended durian season is expected to last until September this year (2018). Woohoo!

  • Ang Bak Kia
  • Hor-Lor
  • Musang King
