We were taught never to abuse the emergency lane, because… well, it’s called an emergency lane for a reason! It’s a lane dedicated to cars that breakdown, or more importantly, for ambulances to reach their destination as quickly as possible.

In a resurfaced video from July 2016 that went viral, it showed how there were a lot of irresponsible drivers hogging the emergency lane, delaying the ambulance’s journey. Of course, each second matters when a life is at stake.

Coincidentally, all the vehicles that hogged the emergency lane was a taxi! Some even took their time to get out of the way, despite the ambulance’s blaring sirens. Infuriating much??!

The video has since garnered 770k views. Of course, netizens didn’t take to kindly to such behaviour.

“I didn’t know the emergency lane was dedicated to taxis!” one user cheekily commented.

“I really hoped the person who was involved in the accident survived. Otherwise, these taxi drivers have got blood on their hands!” another one wrote.

This footage definitely serves a good reminder for everyone to keep within their own lane and not abuse the emergency lane. For all you know, a life could be at stake!
