When it comes to love and finding an ideal partner, we all have our preferences on a variety of factors such as age, their occupation, religion and more.

Although it is fair for everyone to have their very own preference, it would be seen as discrimination if you were to favour dating someone who is well off compared to someone who is not well to do.

In a video which has been circulating on various social media platforms, a woman was asked on whether she’d rather date someone from the T20 income group or the B40.

In her response she answered T20 without hesitating and when asked on her reasons why, she said, “T20 of course because they’re rich. Why would I want to have a hard life. I’ve already been facing hardships and have built up myself so that I’m in a better position.”

“Suddenly I want to go back to living a hard life with someone from the B40 group. Of course not.”

Valid reasoning

The clip of her comments has been circulating on social media platforms such as Instagram, TikTok and Twitter. It was received with mixed reactions as netizens were torn on whether or not her comments would be seen as being discriminatory.

On one hand, netizens said she has a right to prefer being with someone rich rather than poor.

“Actually what she said wasn’t wrong. If she’s T20 and she wants a guy that is also T20 then that is her right. What is wrong is if you’re B40 but demand a guy that is T20.”

“No matter the gender, if you are T20, you have the right to choose someone who is T20 as well,” said another user.

On the other hand, some people saw it otherwise and said that you shouldn’t demand as much.

Meanwhile, some netizens pointed out that she has the right to feel that way, but she shouldn’t share it on social media so publicly and sound so arrogant about it.

“Her perspective is logical, her wishes are not wrong but the way she said it was without manners. Doesn’t matter if it’s for content or what but don’t show your rude attitude.”

Another commented, “Not wrong to have your own preference, but why do you need to upload it to social media with your arrogant face? (It’s) as if her intention was to downgrade the B40.
