As inflation hits, many families have adopted a concept where both spouses would go to work to help with household finances. Many women are willing to go out to the workforce and help their husbands but unfortunately for this family, it seems that she has had enough!

Just several days ago, an anonymous post was posted onto Facebook. In the post, the wife mentioned how she is tired of holding her family and is considering divorcing her husband.

“We are both working, and we both earn about RM6,000 each. Despite the both of us earning RM6,000 a month, I’m always the one responsible for paying everything,” she said.

She mentioned that every month, she would have to pay:

  • 3 children’s school fees
  • Housing loan
  • Car loan for 2 cars
  • Road tax
  • Food and groceries
  • Insurance

“Every month, I spend roughly RM3,600 on the family and if we decide to go for trips and what not, I’m usually the one that pays as well,” she said.

“Yes, he will occasionally offer to pay, but the bill will be paid by our credit card which I’m paying for.”

“He gives me about RM500 a month but would always complain that he doesn’t have enough money and would ask me for RM100-200 back.”, she added.

Shen then mentioned that her husband pays for,

  • Old housing loan (RM1,500),
  • Second child’s school fees (RM400),
  • Allowance for his mom (RM500),
  • Loan (not specified RM600).

She said that this would total up to RM3,500 and she doesn’t understand why he would often complain that he doesn’t have enough money.

“We earn the same amount every month, but I don’t understand where else is he spending his money on. Can I just return him to his mother?” she said.

Marriages are not easy to maintain and to start a family together, couples should be transparent with all their spendings so that arguments about money could be reduced.
