A 23-year-old motorcycle taxi rider in Udon Thani, Thailand, recently lodged a police report about a female passenger who, rather than paying the THB40 or approximately RM5 taxi fare, offered him sex as payment instead.

According to the Thai-based publication Bangkok Post, the incident happened at around 7.30pm local time yesterday (26 June) at a dormitory in Soi Kamnan, Udon Thani.

The woman, who is also 23 years old, reportedly told the rider that she had no money to pay the RM5 fare and tried to lure him into her room for sex as payment. However, the rider declined.

Meanwhile, another Thai publication, Khaosod, reported that the woman then walked into the dormitory and refused to come out.

She then messaged the rider via the app and invited him to her room. Again, the rider declined and later called the police.

A 29-year-old man, who was living in the room, paid the fare for the woman, but said he doesn’t personally know her

Before the police arrived, a 29-year-old man, known as Day, came out from inside the room and paid the fare via mobile banking to the rider.

When the police arrived, Day revealed that he didn’t know the woman personally and that he paid the fare out of sympathy. Moreover, he had seen the woman visit the dormitory frequently over the past month, looking for a motorcycle taxi rider in a nearby room.

Day added that he didn’t allow her to stay in his room, but she entered anyway. Day, whose wife is currently in Nong Khai province and pregnant, told the woman her behaviour would cause him trouble and that he would pay the fare and nothing else.

When questioned by the police, the woman admitted to inviting the rider into the room, but claimed that she just wanted some company to chat and ease her loneliness. The woman also denied using or offering drugs.

The woman’s 72-year-old grandmother asked the police to help her seek treatment

Afterwards, the police took the woman to her accommodation, where her 72-year-old grandmother said that the woman had a history of drug use that led to a psychiatric problem.

The grandmother asked police to help the woman get treatment, saying that her grandchild often left home at night and took motorcycle taxis without money.

However, officers advised the family to take her to the hospital during regular hours as her condition was not severe.
