The Shrine of the Goddess Nom Sao, situated on a breast-shaped island off the coast of Prachuap Khiri Khan in Thailand, has sparked buzz online after visitors were seen making unusual offerings.

According to Thairath, tourists have been taking a 10-minute boat ride to the island to visit the shrine and make bra offerings, believing the gesture will bring them good luck in love.

There have been reports of people’s wishes coming true

According to the president of the CSR Tourism Club of Sam Roi Yot Subdistrict, Sumet Charoensuk, the island in Sam Roi Yot is believed to represent the breast of Yom, a mythical figure’s daughter.

After reports of fireball sightings, a medium claimed the island was home to the spirit of the Milk Goddess. A shrine was then built, and locals began praying for blessings, especially in love.

Those whose wishes came true often returned with offerings like Thai costumes or bras. The legend has since spread, drawing visitors from surrounding areas, with many of them reportedly having their wishes granted.

“The bras are later donated to the less fortunate”

Inside the shrine, rows of bras are laid out alongside hanging traditional Thai costumes, which are offerings left by visitors whose prayers were answered.

However, there have even been talks in the community about donating the bras to those in need or to women’s shelters, turning the act of giving into something meaningful beyond the shrine.

“People come to pray for all sorts of things, depending on what they’re going through, but the shrine is especially popular for love-related wishes. Most bring bras as offerings, which symbolically connect to the name of the shrine (Nom Sao), which means young woman’s breast. The bras are later donated to the less fortunate.” Sumet said.
