A Standard Three student has been unable to attend school regularly after his father got into a motorcycle accident and broke his leg. However, with the help of Bandar Kuching MP, Kelvin Yii, the boy is now able to attend school to receive a proper education.

Kelvin Yii shared in a Facebook post that his constituency was informed of a poor family living in a small rented room at a car workshop.

They discovered that the father, who was a daily-paid painter, had lost his income for several months after breaking his leg in an accident.

“So we were there to help as much as we can including helping the family with Welfare Application and also helped purchased some food aid for them,” Kelvin Yii said.

“One of our priorities was to make sure that their children go to school.”

Kelvin Yii added that the family’s eldest son has not been able to attend school regularly since his father’s accident as he does not have any transport to school. He also discovered that the family’s youngest daughter has not been registered for kindergarten.

“So, next up will be helping the daughter register for kindergarten and help her purchase all the necessary [items] so she can get a proper education,” he said.

“We may not have much, but we will try to do as much as we can.”

He also mentioned that providing transport for the boy will be a commitment until the end of the year while they review the conditions and commitment of the parents to ensure that their children go to school.

“For all the good deeds you do will come back to you. Congrats and God bless you.”
