Weddings are usually a joyous occasion, and many people would take this as an opportunity to dress up and celebrate their friend’s occasion. Some would even drive miles just to be able to attend their friend’s reception.

Just recently, an Asian man has shared his experience attending a colleague’s wedding reception. In his post he said,

“My colleague invited me to attend their wedding reception and I decided to drive to the venue.”

He shared that he had used 2 hours to drive from his house to the reception and the rain made the drive more exhausting that it already was. When he arrived, he saw a parking spot right in front of the entrance and decided to just park there and head in.

As he was walking in, he was stopped by his colleague’s family. “They asked if I could move my car to the parking lot across the venue as my car wasn’t imported and wouldn’t look nice in their pictures”, he added.

He quickly got into his car and moved it to the building across the venue but the whole ordeal made him feel embarrassed.

Many netizens left their comments and here’s what some of them said:

“I would drive off and pretend I didn’t show up at all.”

“I would just use the angpao I brought along and buy something nice for myself to eat.”

Another netizen said the same, where he would just drive off and head back home.

It’s distasteful to judge someone based on the car they drive. One should be grateful that they’re willing to travel distance just to celebrate a joyous occasion.

Do you think it was rude for them to ask him to move his car? Let us know in the comments below.
