‘Covidiot’ is a term that has been coined this year to describe people who not only choose not to wear masks but also those who wear masks and dispose of them irresponsibly. You’d expect that people would be less selfish when we’re facing a devastating pandemic but it seems like some aren’t.

Majlis Bandaraya Pulau Pinang (MBPP) made a Facebook post on 15 October urging the public to STOP throwing their masks everywhere!

They were asked to throw their used masks into the garbage bins decently instead of throwing it carelessly by the roadside or into the drain.

“Appreciate the hard work of the MBPP Yellow Shirt heroes who are always trying to clean up our state.”

They ended their post by reminding people once again to throw their masks into the garbage bins and to be considerate citizens.

At the end of the day, not only is this inconsiderate, but it’s also extremely unhygienic. Moving forward, the least we can do is be less selfish and dispose of our masks correctly!
