A Malaysian hero and one of the most prominent faces in our nation’s fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, former Health Director-General (DG) Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah took a well-deserved rest earlier this year following his mandatory retirement.

However, Noor Hisham, who is also the President of Malaysia Medical Council didn’t stay inactive for too long post-retirement and has since been active in the medical world again. In fact, he is also currently the Chairman of the World Health Organization (WHO) Standing Committee on Health Emergency, Prevention, Preparedness and Response (SCHEPPR)!

Besides that, he’s also been active on social media too, sharing his knowledgeable insights and reposting medicine-related articles.

However, one of Noor Hisham’s recent posts on X became viral with over 3.3 million views and more than 18,300 likes on the platform which has nothing to do with the world of medicine. Instead, the post caught the attention of Malaysian netizens for his out of left field usage of Gen Z slangs.

The X post, in which the former Health DG shared a photo of Putrajaya, started rather innocently with Noor Hisham commenting on how the Federal Territory’s cloudy morning could mean more rainfall later in that day.

Then, seemingly out of nowhere, the former Health DG asserted,

“Another day another slay.”

The post then blew up with many Gen Z-ers going crazy with memes in the replies. One netizen replied that she can’t believe what she was reading and questioned whether Noor Hisham did in fact say another day another slay.

Meanwhile, another reply memed it up a notch and replied with an edited photo of Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Johari Abdul with the caption, “Yess girl slaaay”.

Another reply said that Noor Hisham is now in his “Gen Z era”, while another netizen said that the former Health DG has finally been “infected by the world of slay”.

Besides that, the post also drew the attention of local animation franchise BoBoiBoy’s official X account.

The account shared a photo of an animated Noor Hisham during his cameo during the series’ public service announcement on COVID-19 with the caption, “Slaaaaay!”

The former Health DG actually replied to this X post with even more Gen Z-esque slang, saying, “Chill and glow-up to make a big difference in Gen Z”, which with all due respect, make absolutely zero sense.

So, what do you guys think about the post by Noor Hisham? How do you rate his Gen Z slang? Share your thoughts with us in the comments!
